Robert Reid is from Kilmacolm, Scotland, where he cultivates esoteric interests in subjects such as Williams tube memory from 1950s British computers, late 1990’s German board games, British canal history, tallow based shaving soap, high ABV imperial stouts and whisky.
As a former member of a number of surprisingly unsuccessful bands, over the years he has attempted to play not just the fiddle, but variously the guitar, piano, tin whistle, bodhran and jaws harp.
He would recommend that you, as many others have over the years, avoid hearing him play any and all of the above.
After years of escaping the real world through edifying academic pursuits at the University of Glasgow, he now works in the newspaper and computing industries where he regularly tests the patience of his colleagues by talking too much. He also finds the time to encourage his daughter Hannah to play the violin to a far more proficient level than he ever could.
