On 11 May 2015, Ann Harris from Dorset accidentally tried to book ‘The Borland Ceilidh Band’ for a barn dance in Dorset, England (over 500 miles from Kilmarnock). After a conversation it transpired that it was in memory of Richard “Icker” Vickery. He seemed such a wonderful person that I composed this for him. These are the words from Ann: -
“Richard loved the outdoor life and the family farm. He enjoyed being on stage in
local shows singing, acting and dancing. As soon as the music started up he would be
the first one on the dance floor, he was full of fun, laughter and spirit. He was married
to Sally and had three sons and five grandchildren and lived in the village of Hilfield.
He enjoyed working in his beloved digger and if you couldn’t see him you could
certainly hear him working away from a distance. He was a much loved husband,
dad, granddad, brother and special friend.” - Ann Harris
