Nils Meseke is a Swedish artist, musician and metal craftsman stemming from the small town of Torsby in Värmland county.
His creative pursuits started at a young age. Despite a science oriented early education, art quickly became his focus and the subject for higher studies. Moving through traditional sculpture, painting, composing and music production he found blacksmithing and metal crafting in the late nineties attending a small, rural art school in Sörmland.
He has a BFA in metalwork and design from HDK Steneby (2003) under Janne Hilmersson and an MFA in context-specific works, Valand Art Academy, Gothenburg (2006) under Stephen Hurrel. His short lived artist career yielded work shown at Meinblau Projektraum, Berlin as well as several prominent galleries and showrooms around Sweden.
His exploits in music involves engagements in several bands over the years. Both as a drummer and as a vocalist. Nowadays he features most prominently as GRZNLS, fronting the heavy thrash metal band Septekh. The group has a number of international shows, three EPs and two full length albums under their belt. As well as a number of appreciated music videos.
Nils is now an established craftsman at one of the oldest, continually operating small iron crafters workshops in Sweden, Smedjan Järna (est 1892). He is responsible for a number of prominent works in museums, churches and private homes all around Sörmland and the greater Stockholm area.
He lives alone with his goats on an island two hours south of Stockholm.
