Nancy Brown, a retired Registered Nurse, was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She spent much of her career dedicated to the healthcare profession, working primarily at St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. During her time there, Nancy earned a reputation for her compassion, expertise, and tireless commitment to patient care.
When her daughters, Megan and Karen, became older and more independent, Nancy made the decision to move back to her birthplace, Halifax. It was there that she met Ron Falkenham, and the two quickly fell in love. Together, they have built a fulfilling life, and Nancy’s sense of community and belonging has been further enriched through her active involvement in her church. The church provides Nancy with a deep sense of purpose, as she contributes to the well-being of others and maintains a strong spiritual connection.
Nancy’s pride and joy are her two daughters, Megan and Karen, who she describes as smart, kind, talented, and compassionate individuals. Both have grown into successful women and are now raising families of their own, each with two children. Nancy is a devoted grandmother to four young grandchildren, and her love for her family is evident in her unwavering support, care, and affection.
Throughout her life, Nancy has been an anchor of strength for her family, especially during times of illness. In recent years, she provided hands-on care for her father, supporting him through his final days in the hospital’s hospice department. Her compassion has continued as she now tends to her mother’s personal care on a weekly basis. In addition, Nancy and Ron have opened their home to Megan and her two children, offering a safe space for them while they transition to a new home.
Nancy is also an incredibly talented seamstress. In her free time, she enjoys sewing, and her well-stocked sewing room is always ready for a new project. Her skill with fabric and thread is something that brings her great joy and provides a creative outlet, especially as a grandmother to four active young children.
In her earlier years, Nancy was an avid participant in a variety of outdoor activities. She enjoyed golf, horseback riding, and plenty of walking to stay fit and active. Even now, as she reflects on her busy life, she continues to cherish these moments of physical activity and the freedom they bring.
Now retired, Nancy enjoys a well-earned rest, but her life remains full of purpose, family, and creativity. Her caring nature, strong work ethic, and unshakeable support for those she loves make her a cherished figure in the lives of everyone around her.
