The eldest of the Galston McNamaras, Harry became involved in the music scene at a young age, spending his weekends on the road driving bands to gigs all over Scotland. He then went on to work backstage at the Palace Theatre in Kilmarnock before moving to Dublin where he was a well known busker on Grafton Street. He also performed at open mic nights in the city and in the bands Almost Blue and The Butter Mountain Boys.
He worked as a freelance theatre technician in many venues and arenas throughout Ireland.
A chance meeting with a visiting techie while crewing on a Prodigy gig lead to an offer of work in Cyprus, which Harry accepted. He spent the next few years lighting shows around the island. The job also involved regular trips to London with the Cultural Association of Cyprus working on performances in the West End.
Music remained a large part of Harry’s life whilst he lived in Cyprus. He met his soulmate when he stepped off stage after playing a gig in his local bar and was introduced to Lynda Verrill. Within a few months of meeting, Harry and Lynda decided to return to their Scottish roots and now lead a contented and very happy life in Darvel.
Now retired from the theatre, Harry remains very involved with music and currently enjoys building and playing cigar box guitars.
