Fiona McKenzie, hailing originally from Kilwinning, with enchanting childhood summers spent in Kilmarnock under the watchful care of her maternal grandmother.
Growing up in an environment where the Scots language flowed effortlessly and the melodic verses of Burns intertwined with everyday life, Fiona’s household was imbued with the essence of Burns’ legacy. Her “faither” would seamlessly weave Burns’ timeless wisdom and words into casual conversations, a practice that brought the family closer. An artisan of musical arrangements, he would conjure fresh interpretations of Burns’ melodies for the family’s harmonious renditions.
The annual “Richt Guid Nicht” by Centrestage Music Theatre serves as a cherished occasion for Fiona and others to pay homage to Burns’ enduring influence. Through this event, Burns’ legacy is not only celebrated but also preserved for the generations yet to come.
