David Thomas Moore, a native of Ayrshire, has remained rooted in Prestwick throughout his life. A profound affection for music has been a defining aspect of his journey. At a young age, he was granted the opportunity to learn the violin, a passion that unfolded during his primary school years under the guidance of mentors Lex Galbraith and subsequently Wallace Galbraith. This introduction paved his way to the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra, where his adoration for fiddle music flourished and flourished further as he embarked on worldwide tours alongside the orchestra.
The tutelage of the distinguished Alistair McCulloch marked a pivotal chapter in David’s musical development. This collaboration persisted as he pursued studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.
Today, David Moore holds the esteemed position of Musical Director for the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra. His conductor’s baton guides the orchestra’s performances at a multitude of concerts and events. In addition, he leads his professional ceilidh band, ‘Brae,’ whose lively melodies resonate across Scotland, gracing a variety of occasions. Notably, David is among the select few privileged musicians entrusted with the priceless Gregg Fiddle, a distinction that finds him performing at esteemed gatherings such as the Bachelors’ Club in Tarbolton, where his role as their esteemed fiddler is an honour he holds dear.
